Lee Carsley’s Stance on England Manager Position
Reports suggest Lee Carsley is not interested in becoming England’s permanent manager, despite being considered a frontrunner for the position. The former Everton and Birmingham City midfielder, currently serving as interim coach, is on loan from his role as Under-21 manager while the Football Association searches for a new head coach.
Despite his limited experience as a first-team manager, Carsley has led England to victories against Ireland and Finland, with a recent loss to Greece. Sources within the England setup believe he is not seeking the long-term position, preferring to focus on developing his coaching skills at this stage of his career.

In a recent talkSPORT interview, Carsley confirmed he did not formally apply for the England job, stating, “Hopefully I’ll be going back to the Under-21s.” He expressed pride in his Under-21 role and commitment to giving his best during his three-camp tenure with the senior team.
Meanwhile, the FA’s managerial search continues, with Pep Guardiola reportedly their ideal long-term candidate. Other names linked to the position include Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe, Thomas Tuchel, and Graham Potter.
